Sunday May 27 – DRCA Community Clean-up
Location: West end of Discovery Ridge Blvd
Event time: 9:00am-2:00pm 
Volunteers required: 8:30am-2:30pm for 1.5 hour shifts

Requirements: Some mild to medium physical activity (lifting and keeping area clear of debris), directing traffic
Refreshments provided

Sunday June 10 – DRCA Stampede BBQ
Location: DR Recreation Facility and adjoining fields
Event time:  4:00pm-7:00pm
Volunteers required for 1-2 hour shifts

Requirements: set up, clean up and smooth running of the event

September 2 & 3 – Casino

Location: Cowboys Casino

Event time: 10:00AM-4:00AM both days
Volunteers required to 4 or 8 hour shifts
Requirements: chip runner, count room, cashier, general manager (all training and food provided)

Saturday September 8 – Music in the Park
Location: DR Recreation Facility and adjoining fields
Event time: 3:00-7:00pm
Volunteers required for 1-2 hour shifts

Requirements: ticket sales, set up and clean up, security

Earth Day Community Litter Pick-Up

Please join us on Sunday, April 22, 9:00 a.m. to noon, for our annual Earth Day Litter Pick-Up.  Meet at the DRCA Rec Facility to join in on the action and get our community looking its best!

Volunteers will be assigned an area to pick up litter in public greenspaces within Discovery Ridge. No age limit….families welcome! If you garden gloves please bring them.  Bags will be supplied.

Southwest Ring Road Information Sessions

Alberta Transportation, Mountain View Partners, and KGL Constructors will be hosting public information sessions on February 26 and 27 to provide an update on the 2018 construction season for the Southwest Calgary Ring Road (SWCRR). Display materials will feature information on the road alignment, highlight key construction activities, outline areas that may qualify for noise mitigation, and identify upcoming traffic impacts.

The City of Calgary will also be in attendance to provide details on its projects connecting to the SWCRR. This includes:

  • Widening of Glenmore Trail, including improvements at Crowchild Trail and the 54 Avenue pedestrian bridge
  • Extension of 90 Avenue
  • Extension of Southland Drive
  • Widening of Anderson Road

The sessions are drop-in events on February 26th and 27th, between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

Upcoming Holiday Events!

Join us for Santa in Discovery Ridge & Carols in the Ridge on Sunday, December 17th

Santa in Discovery Ridge will take place from 3-5 p.m. at Heart + Mind Yoga

This free, all-ages event will have you feeling festive in no time.  Chat with your neighbours while you nibble a cookie, sip a festive beverage, make a craft, listen to some holiday tunes and get your photo taken with the big man himself.

We will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for the Calgary Firefighter’s Association and donations for the Calgary Foodbank. THIS EVENT IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE DRCA, HOSTED BY HEART + MIND YOGA.

Carols in the Ridge will follow from 6-7 p.m.

Bring your family, meet your neighbours & invite your friends.  Grab a cup of hot cocoa and join in the merrymaking round a cracking fire at our new recreation facility.

Family Friendly Holiday Special at JAVINO.  Dine in or Grab & Go for $6 or $10.
