The Discovery Ridge Recreation Facility is located on the corner of Discovery Ridge Hill and Discovery Ridge Blvd. It includes tennis courts, a hockey rink, a leisure ice rink (winter only), and a maintenance house with a heated change area.
The Recreation Facility was an initiative put forward by residents. It represents what surveyed community members said they wanted — family fitness, leisure, and fun, but it also represents what we as a community value — community spirit, team building, and the concept that it takes a village to achieve large community goals.
The initial development of the Recreation Facility relied entirely on fundraising and donations. The City of Calgary did not build our facility and does not maintain it.
Our Discovery Ridge Community Association maintains the Recreation Facility for everyone in the community to enjoy. Your $25/year membership fee is used to help manage and maintain this special area, but it is our annual Casino Fundraiser that is our single most important fundraising event. Every dollar raised there goes directly into maintaining and improving our recreation facilities — facilities that are fully funded and maintained by our community, not the City. One casino event raises approximately $70,000 to $80,000, but we need volunteers to help us reach this goal. To volunteer at this year’s casino, please sign up for the 2026 Casino Fundraiser.
