The City of Calgary has informed us that the multi-structure playground at 225 Discovery Dr SW (installed in 2018) has been closed as a safety precaution after staff identified heaving and movement in the equipment footings, causing a visible lean in one structure.
Status: The site is fenced and closed, effective immediately.
Next Steps: An Asset Management Engineer is on site today for a preliminary assessment, to be followed by a full structural assessment to confirm the cause and scope of the issue.
Timeline: A repair plan will be developed once the assessment findings are in. The DRCA Board will be updated as soon as the City’s team has an update; we will share this with you at that time.
