Farm Stand Every Saturday This Summer
Each week the Farm Stand is located in the Recreation Facility parking lot. Head on over to Shirley’s Greenhouse Farm Stand! The selection has expanded and is always fresh and delicious!
Note: This week only, Shirley’s Greenhouse will be adjusting their hours to align with Music In The Park. So, this Saturday (September 6), Shirley’s Greenhouse will be open from 3pm-7pm.
Music in the Park 2025 Is This Weekend
The Discovery Ridge Community Association and David Pellettier are excited to bring you Music in the Park this Saturday (September 6) from 3-7 pm! Grab a chair or blanket and bring the whole family to join the fun! There will be live music, a beer/wine garden, and food trucks. Scan the QR code for more details.
Entry is FREE for DRCA members and their families. Non-members are encouraged to purchase their household DRCA annual membership for $25 at the gate. Donations are also gratefully accepted.
As much as we love pets, we ask that you leave them at home for this event as the crowd and sounds can be stressful for them and our guests.

2025 MITP Bands
Love live music? Come meet the bands that will be rocking our park. See the Music in the Park event page for details.

Volunteers Needed for MITP
I hope you are enjoying these last few weeks of summer! While it’s sad to see it coming closer to the end, it means that Music in the Park is just around the corner!
Plans are well underway for another fabulous event. Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 6, from 3:00 – 7:00 pm at the Discovery Ridge recreation facility (by the rinks). We have an incredible line up of musicians this year, along with 5 brand-new food trucks, and plenty of fun activities for the kids. Full event details and the live music schedule available here: discoveryridge.com/music-in-the-park.
To make our event a success we need your help! There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes as well as on event day. Here is where we can use your support:
- Event Set-Up (12:30 – 2:30 PM) Help set up tents, tables, chairs, garbage and recycle bins.
- Gate Attendants (Shifts: 3:00 – 5:00 PM & 5:00 – 7:00 PM) Welcome guests and monitor entry and exit. Admission is free for DRCA members and their families; donations are appreciated from non-members. Please note no pets allowed.
- Ticket Sellers (Shifts: 3:00 – 5:00 PM & 5:00 – 7:00 PM) Sell beer and wine tickets using a Square reader (you will use your own phone).
- Event Take-Down (Starts at 7:00 PM) May take about one hour to take down tents, put away tables and chairs, pick up garbage and do a final clean-up of the area.
- First Aid Certification: If you will be attending the event and have First Aid Certification, we would appreciate you sharing your name and cell number with us in case your assistance is needed. Please note serious medical concerns will be immediately dealt with by calling 911.
If you’re able to help out, contact volunteer@discoveryridge.com to let us know which role and shift you’d prefer. If you have any questions or need more information, feel free to reach out!
Thank You From the City of Calgary
On behalf of the City of Calgary, the Community Cleanup Program led by Community Strategies and Waste and Recycling Services, would like to thank the Community Association event organizer, your volunteers, and the residents for a job well done at the Community Cleanup this year.
2025 Small Scale Housing
Planning & Development Services is creating The Guide for Small-Scale Housing: Rowhouse, Townhouse and Front-Back Semi-detached Development and they want your feedback. When complete, the Guide will support the thoughtful design of rowhouses, townhouses, and front-back semi-detached homes in Calgary’s developed communities. This will help ensure new developments are well-designed and fit into your neighbourhood.
Help them create a guide that supports better housing design and vibrant communities. Visit Calgary.ca/smallscaleguide to learn more and provide feedback by September 15.
2025 Bear Activity
It’s the time of year when bear activity tends to increase. 2025 is expected to be a very active season due to an abundant food supply. The City of Calgary has not yet activated the Wildlife Affected Area designation for Discovery Ridge; however, it’s a great time for residents to be reminded that we can do our part to help protect wildlife and our special community. Consider the best practice of storing your bins in your garage or other secured enclosure, if you do not already do so, and keep them secured until the morning of pick up.
For residents that are new to Discovery Ridge and may not be familiar with the Wildlife Affected Area designation, in the event the City of Calgary enacts the designation for Discovery Ridge, or any other community, the bylaw then requires residents to store their bins in their garage or other secure enclosure. Additionally, bins must not be placed out before 5am and must be returned to their secure location by 7pm on pickup days.
2025-26 DRCA Memberships Available Now
Thank you to everyone that has renewed the DRCA membership for 2026! Your support is much appreciated! You should have received a confirmation email. If you have not, please email membership@discoveryridge.com and we will sort it out.
For those who have not yet renewed, your DRCA membership expires as of September 1, 2025, and you will no longer receive member-only emails. These emails help you stay informed about the latest happenings in our community.
The Discovery Ridge Community Association depends on membership fees to operate the skating rinks, tennis courts, and the surrounding green space, and we work with all levels of government on issues that affect our community. We also organize our Stampede Roundup and Music in the Park events, both of which have been successful in the past and enjoyed by many community members!
To renew your membership for 2026, please visit discoveryridge.com/membership to pay online. A membership costs only $25 per household. If you renew before October 20th, your name will be entered into a draw for a Cineplex gift card!
