Curbside Treasure Hunt (City-wide)

The City of Calgary is thrilled to welcome back the Curbside Treasure Hunt! We are inviting Calgarians to set out gently used, reusable items they no longer need for neighbours to find and enjoy. Think of it as a giant, free garage sale for the whole city. Mark your calendars for September 6 and 7, 2025!

The Treasure Hunt encourages Calgarians to explore their neighbourhoods, find unique items and rehome reusable unwanted treasures that would otherwise end up in landfills.

“By participating in the Curbside Treasure Hunt, residents play a significant role in reducing waste and reusing items. Last year, we heard inspiring stories of neighbours connecting and enjoying each other’s company while extending the life of gently used items. We hope to see the same enthusiasm and support this year. We invite all Calgarians to take part, whether decluttering their home or searching for their next great find” says Natalia Gonzalez, Waste Diversion Specialist for The City of Calgary.

How It Works:

  1. Gather: identify items in your home that you no longer need but could be valuable to someone else.
  2. Label: mark these items with a “Free” label.
  3. Place: set the items out at the curb on September 6 and 7.
  4. Discover: residents and treasure hunters can explore different neighborhoods, picking up items they find interesting or useful.
  5. Clean up: remove left over items from the curbside following the event. Visit calgary.ca/whatgoeswhere to find out where to recycle, donate or dispose of any remaining items.

Calgarians are invited to join us in the Curbside Treasure Hunt on September 6 and 7for a fun opportunity to discover unique items. For more information on what items you can contribute and how to get involved, visit calgary.ca/treasurehunt.
