DESCRIPTION:The Discovery Ridge Community Association\, alongside the Signal Hill and Springbank Hill communities\, are planning a community cleanup day where we will have multiple city garbage trucks in a parking lot to assist you in removing some unwanted items from your home. Think of things like old electronics\, tires\, wood\, mattresses\, chairs\, beds\, landscaping\, etc. \nThe City will provide trucks to collect garbage going to the landfill. Other recycling vendors include: metal\, electronics\, tires\, and household donations. The Drop-In Centre is accepting any furniture. \nUnfortunately\, we cannot accept organics\, chemicals\, contaminated materials\, or hazardous items. Household hazardous waste can be dropped off at the Lincoln Park/Garrison Green Fire Station #20 at 2800 Peacekeepers Way SW. \nWe are always looking for volunteers to help with the event. SUMMARY:Street Cleaning
DESCRIPTION:The City’s Spring Clean-up program\, or street sweeping\, removes debris and leftover materials from winter on the roadway. The program begins in mid-April (weather permitting) and runs through June\, with community sweeping happening Monday through Fridays\, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.  \nStreet cleaning is scheduled for Discovery Ridge on May 4. If you’d like a reminder\, sign up for e-mail or text notifications. \nCity crews will put up signs with “No Parking” symbols a few days earlier at specific locations around the community. These signs are verified by Calgary Parking\, which helps enforce the ban. Community parking bans occur Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Any vehicle that has not been removed from the street during the ban is subject to a ticket. Calgary Parking uses camera vehicles for enforcement\, and tickets will arrive through the mail. In certain areas\, vehicles may also be subject to towing if the “No Parking” signs are placed along the roadway. These signs will be placed at least a minimum of 24 hours prior to street sweeping.

DESCRIPTION:As part of The City’s Pond Maintenance and Dam Safety Programs\, engineering and condition assessments were completed on the Discovery Ridge Dam (Discovery Ridge Pond – just west of Discovery Ridge Gardens). The assessments showed that a portion of the dam’s embankment had potential slope stability risks and a dam safety review outlined several additional deficiencies. \nFollowing the community information session held on November 20\, 2025\, and in response to questions received\, the City will host an in-person technical information session to review the following reports: \n\nDam Safety Review – Stantec (2024)\nMitigations and Remedial Options Report – KCB (2025)\n\nThis session is part of the City’s ongoing commitment to keep residents informed and engaged. \nTechnical Information Session – January 29\, 2026 at 6:00 pm \nThe City invites you to attend an in-person technical information session on Thursday\, January 29\, 2026\, at 6:00 PM.
